I recently loaded Sibelius 7.5 onto my mac OS/X computer. Everything loaded well.I then loaded Kontakt 5 onto my Mac OS/X computer and activated it.When I opened Sibelius and went into Playback Devices, in Available Devices I see the following list - 'Kontakt5, DLSmusic devices, Midisynth, AUsampler' - but they are all dimmed. In Active Devices I see Sibelius Player.I have gone into Audio Engine Options and performed a re-scan.

I have then quit Sibelius, closed down the computer, restarted the computer and restarted Sibelius, but in Available Devices, Kontakt5 is still dimmed.Does anyone know how to get Sibelius 7 and Kontakt 5 to work on Mac OS/X?Any help or suggestions anyone could give would be much appreciated. Thank you for your reply and your help, Robin. Unfortunately, it doesn't work.I created a new custom Playback Configuration, and I deactivated Sibelius player, then activated Kontakt. There was no sound at all when playing back.As far as I can see, the problem seems to stem from the fact that there is nothing in the Manual Sound Sets to set that corresponds to Kontakt.Still, it was worth a go. My one consolation is that I only paid half price for Kontakt5 because it was on offer.I shall, nevertheless, persevere in trying to get Kontakt5 to work with Sibelius 7, even if I have to pay someone to come to my house and set it up for me. I've been trying to find out how to do that.So, where can I find out how to do that?I really need an idiot guide for using Kontakt 5. I'll have a look on Amazon to see if such a book exists. If I could just get a set of clear instruction from somewhere, I'd be fine. Without that, I'm just floundering around in the dark.

I've been trying to find out how to do that.You would need to purchase a sample library that you find a need for, then install it, and Kontakt will find it, and be able to play it.To use such a sample library for Sibelius playback, it would be very much easier to also purchase a Sibelius 'SoundSet' file to integrate the sample library into Sibelius score playback. It costs £339.00. I got it for half that price because it was on offer at a reduced price for a limited period of time. It's a complete library of sounds. I know I'm an idiot, but I'm not that muchj of an idiot. I know what it is that I'm purchasing.

You appear to have purchased Kontakt bundled with one or more sample libraries, but what were the names of those sample libraries?

Was it Komplete? Or was it Kontakt Factory?You will find it very difficult to use Kontakt-based libraries for Sibelius playback without a pre-made SoundSet file to provide the glue between a Sibelius score and the facilities of the sample library.

The 'Kontakt Factory Selection', available with Kontakt 5 Player, is a small sub-set of the 'Kontakt Factory' Library. It's difficult now to re-construct whether the bundled libraries which you have purchased are the same as those previously available as 'Kontakt Factory', with the name change just being a marketing thing, or whether there are real differences in content.
