Beau, I suspect it's a case of what you are used to, I'm a combinez user which has the added advantage of being free. I have used helicon focus and found it harder to get good results with but that maybe because I was not used to it.

I certainly don't think it is better than combinez especially now as I have found there are some good alignment tricks in combinez. The one advantage of Helicon is, it is available for Mac users.Brian V.Canon 600D, 40D, 5D mk2, 7D, Tamron 90mm macro, Sigma 105mm OS, Canon MPE-65,18-55 kit lens X2, canon 200mm F2.8 L, Tamron 28-70mm xrdi, Other assorted bits. Hi Beau, I have used Helicon but have not used the Combine software.

I have had good success with the Helicon, particularly after the revision about 6 months ago. Several good features about the Helicon are:1.

Popular Alternatives to CombineZP for Windows, Mac, Linux, Software as a. Small and portable image editing program. Hornil StylePix Portable 1.13.0.2 is a small program that can.

It processes raw files and operated in 16 bit mode. I don't have any conversions to do to run my stack. I keep as much digital information as possible2. When low contrast details mush out, it has a side by side interface where you can check the detail of each individual slice in the stack.

You can then manually transfer any information from the slice to the composite easily.3. I wouldn't know about any alignment features as I am on a tripod and have had not had alignment problems crop up.Like Brian, I know one of the two. From what I have seen, both do an amazing job.IrwinCanon G9, Canon 1Ds Mark II, Sigma 180mm, Sigma 105mm, Canon 65mm mp-e. After some experimenting he found that installing the packagethen copying the files CombineZM.exe, gdiplus.dll and fftw3.dll into a seperatefolder and running CZM from there worked. I expect that you don't need toinstall, just collect the three files in a folder. I think the only limitationis that grabbing pictures from a webcam or similar won't work, that's accordingto the programming help files.'
